WOMEN’S MINISTRY COUNCIL 2008-2009
Beth Bradshaw, Communications Director. Beth moved to Nashville in 1993, seeking work in the Christian Music Industry. “I wanted to do album artwork, and instead worked for a magazine writing about the Christian Music Industry.” She started at Christ Church in 1994 and Women’s Ministries in 1996. “I believe communication is key to getting the women of Christ Church connected and involved in each other’s lives. Being a part of each other’s lives is how we grow together and minister to one another.” Beth and her husband Tony have been married ten years and have four children.
Billie Goodman, Prayer Director. Living in Nashville for 23 years, Billie has called Christ Church home for 18 of them. Billie is drawn to Women’s Ministries by the opportunity to minister to and work with women of all ages. She is an adventurer at heart and enjoys traveling. She is a widower who has two daughters and two granddaughters.
Gayle Richardson, Meeting Director and Missions/Service Director. Looking for adventure is what brought Gayle to Nashville, and Christ Church. Her plan was to spend a year… and that was nine years ago! Gayle spends her day in the music industry, pitching songs and writing articles among other things. Of being involved with Women’s Ministries, she says, “I also have a huge heart for missions and outreach, both next door and around the world, so it is my desire to see Women's Ministries facilitate and support different outreach and service opportunities. We have a unique opportunity to literally be the hands and feet of Christ.”
Penny Shire, Bible Studies Director. Penny’s passion for Women’s Ministries includes, “The opportunity to offer women hope. I would like to assist in challenging women to: know God personally, to grow in Christ-likeness - both spiritual and relational, to discover and use their spiritual gifts, to love and serve others, and in all I do, we do, to reflect the beauty and love of Jesus. To set such an example that each woman would know that they are important in God’s eyes and play a vital role in His kingdom. Every woman has a destiny that is yet awaiting her.” Penny grew up playing drums at the local Chicken House with groups such as The Statlers, SonRise, The Variety Gospel Singers, The Speers and many others. She was offered a recording contract with Atlantic Records but declined in order to start a family. Penny has lived in Nashville for ten years and has two children.
Aly Sykes, the newest council member. Aly was born and raised in Nashville and at Christ Church. She works in the Christ Church Coffee Shop, “mainly to support my leadership position in the Jr. High youth department… I don’t have children of my own, but I absolutely love and adore every child in our Jr. High youth like my own.” Aly is excited to see Women’s Ministries reach the younger women of Christ Church.
Kristi Tiller, Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) Co-coordinator. Kristi was born and raised in Nashville and has been at Christ Church for the last 13 years. She and husband Victor have been married ten years and have two children. Kristi is looking for a larger age span in the women participating in Women’s Ministries. Of being involved in Women’s Ministries, Kristi says, “It would be an honor to encourage (other women) on their journey.”
Sandra Wimpelberg, Merea Ministries Director for Titus 2 Women. Born and raised in Scotland, Sandra moved to America after marrying Don, who was serving in the USAF in Scotland. Wanting to be close to five of their seven grandchildren brought Sandra and Don to Nashville in 2006. Sandra is an ordained American Baptist Minister and has her own business as an Executive Life Coach, Coach Trainer and Professional Speaker. Her goal for Women’s Ministries includes connecting, inspiring and motivating Christ Church women to walk in the fullness of their gifts and call.
