Living Out Our Baptism

Ephesians 2:1-10
What does it mean to live out our Baptism? According to the Apostle Paul, the Gospel reveals how when we were nothing more than dead men walking (EPH 2:1), God in Christ entered into the full brokenness of human life. God did this so that by the power of His saving grace, He might bring us into the full wholeness of the life of God, raising and empowering us to “walk in newness of life” (RMS 6:4). As part of His New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), we are God’s “workmanship, (re)-created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (EPH 2:10). Christian Baptism is meant to signify our embodiment of this life-giving spiritual reality. As we live out our Baptism, we learn to walk in the good works God has intended for us, embodying His lavish gifts of grace, love, and life so freely given in Christ.
