If This is from God

Acts 5:12-20, 33-39
Throughout the first six chapters of the Book of Acts, the disciples of Jesus experienced the amazing manifestation of Holy Spirit in their lives. They spoke the Word of God with boldness and new tongues, lived together in community by sharing their resources and breaking bread from house to house, signs and wonders were done by the apostles, and believers were daily added to their number. Yet… The religious leaders arrested, threaten, and beat the disciples on numerous occasions because they spoke in the Name of Jesus. Their anger eventually led to plans of killing the apostles. But God used the advice of a Pharisee, Gamaliel, to speak truth to power and win the apostle’s freedom. His words, “If this is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them.”, should guide us to true north of what it means to be the Church.
