In our society, it customary to dedicate buildings, roads, schools, and even monuments to honor individuals who achieved great accomplishments, made tremendous sacrifices, or represented a cause that others believe in. We dedicate things in order to commit ourselves to remembering what we consider to be important and exemplary. But what does it mean to dedicate our lives instead of things?
