When Jesus calls you, He first calls you to Himself. Before Christ calls you to go and do something, He calls you to come and be something – to be His disciple. To be Jesus’ disciple is to enter into true relationship with Him. Not only must a disciple put his or her faith in Christ, but a disciple is also choosing to be with Him, to become like Him, and to join Him in His ongoing mission in the world. Christ calls us to be His disciples, and Christ promises to equip those whom He has called.
