On the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the 120 believers who had gathered in the upper room, we are told that they were all on one accord in one place. Their unity created an environment where the gift of the Holy Spirit empowered them to become witnesses for Christ. This event marked the beginning of the gifts that Christ would give to man after He ascended on high. In his letter to the Ephesian Church, Paul tells us of 5 Leadership Gifts that Christ has given to the Church. These are the gifts of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. Those who are called to serve in these positions are responsible for equipping the saints for ministry work and building up the Body of Christ. Their calling and duties are still needed by the Church today!
