God directs us to “put on the whole armor of God,” which includes learning to wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Like a sharp and nimble dagger, the Word of God pierces through the lies of our spiritual enemy. Like a scalpel in the hand of a skilled physician, the Word also cuts away what hinders us in our ability to walk with Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. As the life of the embodied Word (logos) takes shape in us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the spoken Word of Christ (rhema) is meant to become not only what we hear, but what we think, what we speak, what we obey, and what we share with those around us as the Word (Christ) lives through us.
