Peace on Earth
December 8, 2019 |
Luke 2:8-14
During this holy season of Advent, we are invited to once again hear the angels singing. Their song echoes through the centuries like the light of a distant star. A light that reveals something that has already happened millions of miles in the distance. On that glorious night in Bethlehem, the angels brought Good News from heaven. This Good News was first proclaimed to those who lived on the margins of society. To the shepherds, the angels said, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased”. What is peace? What happens when peace arrives in a world that is filled with fear, violence, hate, and sin? Where does this kind of peace originate from? How can we experience this peace like the shepherds did on that wonderful night?
