Our desire to avoid suffering is natural, but it is not always godly. We discover in the exchange between Jesus and Peter that some forms of suffering are to be embraced and not shunned. Some suffering can become blessings! Jesus knew that it was His purpose and mission to suffer on our behalf. He accepted the fact that our salvation required His total surrender.
